Shutters come in varies colors. I would consider espresso or wood stained. White shutters don't coordinate w/ this multi-million $$ Brownstone.

When dressing your windows it is important to select the material that coordinate. Do it correctly you will the aesthetic and price value to your home. Let the interior tell stories of your family and style of the house.

Furnishing A Seaside Home

To creat a successful fabric furnishings scheme in a seaside home, take your cues from the textures and colors of nature. Fabrics such as nubbly linens, rough burlap and watered silk are perfect for bringing the outdoors inside, while a palatte of the sky blues, cloudy whites, and soft grays creates a soothing harmony in a coastal setting.

Although plain textural fabrics should be the foundation of your design scheme, introducing an occasional splash of pattern is a good way to prevent an tinerior from appearing too tonal. Fabric designs that incoporate blowsy florals or bold stripes are not a good idea, however. Instead, go for the simple tickings, ginghams or small-scale florals that reflect the informal character of seaside style.

Cotton is a favored fabric in coastal interiors, because of its crisp appearance and lightness. Available in various textures and forms including cotton canvas, brushed cotton, terrycloth, muslin, and denim, cotton is wonderfully versatile and can be used for a wide range of decorative purposes, from bedding to curtains, and upholstery. When selecting fabrics for your decorating needs pay as much as you can afford because the more expensive the material, the softer and more appealing it will become over time.

Linen is another fabric that ages well. Available in natural colors including ivery, tan, gray, and gree, linen is especially desirable in hot climates since it says a degree or two below room termperature. Linen also resists dirt and can hold up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp, making it ideal for humid conditions too.

Installing a chandelier from the ceiling is essential to complete the furnishing scheme. It will light up a room and definitely make it cozy during the evening. Selecting a chandelier is like selecting your wedding ring - very personal and costs. The best one for a peaceful coastal living room is one with clear glass details, with tear drops in aged wrought iron frame.

Window Treatments/Rugs

Heading to Home Depot this weekend to check out two rugs client claimed the same ones at Potty Barn. Same prices also. Imagine that! Very anxious to see them in person.

Lesson don't settle on the very first one. Look around.

Got Client Blessings

I have just got another client's blessing for our design plan to go
forward. Wow! Hard work does pay off. Thank goodness.

For the dining room I am marrying the elegance and retro-modern styles in
a 11' x 13' space.
This relationship is going to be a tight and faithful one because of the
room's dimensions. This petite-sized dining room can contain friends and
family members to the curvy back chairs long enough for lots of clean, G
rated conversations during any meals. According to our design plan the long
server with the cabriole legs will go under the window on the back wall.
The chairs are chic and comfy with low backs, lesser distractions and
details. The table surface space is generous, plenty of room for foods,
holiday decorations and elbow room.

Organic use @ William Sonoma to or not to be???

I read somewhere that Williams-Sonoma among top U.S. consumers of organic cotton. Terrific! Organic cotton is good for your body and gentle on our environment. Wish that the fashion industry would push for organic fabrics. Organic cotton won't have and shouldn't have a drop of pesticide. Ah I am in love with WS again!
